Mutual Benefits "Drifting"

With the EP appropriately called "Drifting," Mutual Benefits had me drifting in and out of the odd comfort of feeling at home. The gentle tone of the vocals with the minimal instrumentation left me wondering in and out of dreams of being in blissful seclusion. With it only being four songs I found myself listening through it multiple times in one sitting and whenever the guitar from "Here" kicked back in I felt like it was preparing me to commit to the journey again. And then the vocals bring you in, Giving me the desire to go somewhere. I am not sure where I am going but the album takes me there. The EP is a breath of fresh air and I am grateful to be able to enjoy it. I look forward to more from them and wish them the best.

MOON

jamesDUNK [aka James Jesse Martin Folker] has recourded a little 3 song EP entitled "MOON." I've been excited about all the new Spirit Cat material popping up over the past couple of weeks. And this little EP is part why I'm so excited. Often times, I will put on an recourd and fall asleep to it and it will enhance my dreams. Sometimes, the result is very soothing while other times, it is terrifying. When I fall asleep to MOON, my dreams consist solely of myself soaring through the cosmos with the Harlem Globetrotters. Download it for free over at his bandcamp page or listen to it below.

Also, be looking out for AIRCRAFT. A collaboration between James Folker [jamesDUNK], Malee Bringardner [MoonLasso] and Emily Morris [who contributed vocals on the jamesDUNK track "Emily"]

Impromptu Cover

New Broken Social Scene

To all of you who left BSS off of your best albums of the decade: 1. Shame. 2. You are all forgotten. BSS has just put all of you in your place. Download their new track "World Sick," and tell me it doesn't levitate your soul from your body. Tell me it doesn't transport you to a new world. Tell me that you can control the giddy happiness boiling inside you.

With the production of John McEntire, I was a little nervous the texture that was so prominent on "You Forgot It In People" and the self titled album would be lost. But McEntire and crew were able to find a healthy balance of texture and hellish-good anthem rock and roll. As an obsessive fan of BSS, I was skeptical of the upcoming release but I can't hide the joy that I feel listening to this song. Whitemans guitar work warms your feet and Cannings' bass antics are too smooth. As I have grown out of adolescence, BSS has continued to bring me back to that passionate fight of wanting to have to overcome anything and everything. This new song bleeds hope and they have moved me once again. The new album, "Forgiveness Rock Record" is set to be released in the States, via Arts & Crafts May 4th.
