New Broken Social Scene

To all of you who left BSS off of your best albums of the decade: 1. Shame. 2. You are all forgotten. BSS has just put all of you in your place. Download their new track "World Sick," and tell me it doesn't levitate your soul from your body. Tell me it doesn't transport you to a new world. Tell me that you can control the giddy happiness boiling inside you.

With the production of John McEntire, I was a little nervous the texture that was so prominent on "You Forgot It In People" and the self titled album would be lost. But McEntire and crew were able to find a healthy balance of texture and hellish-good anthem rock and roll. As an obsessive fan of BSS, I was skeptical of the upcoming release but I can't hide the joy that I feel listening to this song. Whitemans guitar work warms your feet and Cannings' bass antics are too smooth. As I have grown out of adolescence, BSS has continued to bring me back to that passionate fight of wanting to have to overcome anything and everything. This new song bleeds hope and they have moved me once again. The new album, "Forgiveness Rock Record" is set to be released in the States, via Arts & Crafts May 4th.

Skeletron Ball LIVE: Michael Parallax

"Suddenly the whole world falls apart... the static comes rolling in on the stereo"

Today's video is from: MICHAEL PARALLAX

Michael Parallax, is my younger brother and best friend. His one-man-band of electronic virgin-colada dance pop is a show you shouldn't feel okay about missing. Mike played the first night of Skeletron Ball to a crowd of rabid listeners and dancers. If you pay attention you can see me thrashing around like a lunatic with my shirt off around the 1:50 mark.

He's currently working on his fourth self-released LP.

Skeletron Ball LIVE: Birdfeeder

Today's video is from: BIRDFEEDER.

birdfeeder is: UF law student, Grant Johnson playing amazing dance-oriented laptop electronics. I would argue that birdfeeder is making some of the best music coming out of Gainesville right now. I would highly recommend attending every single one his shows [especially shows that include an incredibly loud sound system].

birdfeeder is currently working on an EP [hopefully to be released this month].

Check out his shows:
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13th @ the UF Fine Arts Building for "ART BASH" w/ jamesDUNK
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14th @ The Laboratory w/ Ars Phoenix, Rabbit Punch, and Viirus
DECEMBER 28 w/ Totally Nebular, and Hear Hums [location tba]

Skeletron Ball LIVE: jamesDUNK

Recently, my brother and friend's put on an electronic music festival at Spin Cycle in Gainesville. It was amazingly fun. Alex Gilwit and Christian Gutierez were on hand with video equipment to capture some of the shows. I'll be posting video from the shows as I finish editing them. Today's video is jamesDUNK.

jamesDUNK is: James Folker playing enormous and swelling guitar loops coupled with distanced and washy vocals over laptop electronics. Check out the video of him playing "Flesh Flowers" below:

This was jamesDUNK's first show ever, ever. Looking forward to an album soon.

Check out his show with birdfeeder on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13th @ the UF Fine Arts Building for "ART BASH"
